Zorbas Bakeries recently participated in McDonald’s “The Inside Matters” event, which brought together key suppliers from Cyprus and abroad to emphasize the importance of quality, safety, and consistency across the supply chain. The event showcased the critical role suppliers play in maintaining McDonald’s global standards.
Representing Zorbas Bakeries at the event was Mrs Pascale Bouzon, Quality & Systems Manager, who provided insights into the company’s ongoing collaboration with McDonald’s. As the exclusive supplier of buns for McDonald’s in Cyprus, Zorbas is responsible for producing five unique types of buns that are integral to McDonald’s offerings: the Regular Bun, Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, Big Tasty, and the newly launched McCrispy.
Mrs Bouzon noted that the relationship between Zorbas and McDonald’s is built on a foundation of quality, food safety, and exceptional customer service. “We take pride in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards, from sourcing premium ingredients to delivering buns that match McDonald’s exacting criteria for taste and consistency,” she said.
To ensure the highest levels of quality, Zorbas follows a rigorous system of checks involving both internal teams and third-party certifications from organizations such as BRC, IFS, and ISO. The bakery holds certification in the Supplier Quality Management System (S.Q.M.S.) and adheres to McDonald’s Supply Chain Human Rights and Supplier Code of Conduct.
Zorbas carefully selects its raw materials from approved suppliers, ensuring they meet strict microbiological and chemical standards. Throughout the production process, the company employs advanced safety protocols, including raw material sieving, magnet checks, temperature control, weight monitoring, and metal detection. Weekly bun scoring with McDonald’s further ensures consistency in critical attributes like colour, height, aroma, and taste.
