Zorbas Bakeries reaffirmed its commitment to social action and contribution, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, celebrated on 8 March, as well as the completion of 10 years of collaboration with Europa Donna Cyprus.
In a special event held on Wednesday, 5 March, the Group, which is celebrating 50 years of successful operations this year, honoured the contribution of the 1,900 women who are a part of its team, as well as the thousands of female customers who trust the company every day.
On behalf of Zorbas Group, the event was attended by the Group’s Executive Chairman, Costas Zorbas and CEO, Demetris Zorbas. Europa Donna Cyprus was represented by its Executive Director, Marios Charalmbides, President, Stella Mastora, former EU Health Commissioner, Stella Kyriakides, as well as Europa Donna Cyprus’ board members and staff.
The event was also attended by the director of the “Calendar Girls” play, George Tsiakkas, actress Elena Efstathiou and media representatives.
In her brief address, Zorbas’ Group Marketing Manager, Ms Sophia Tsene referred to the Group’s long-standing commitment to social contribution initiatives, stressing that “with a sense of responsibility and joy, we reciprocate the love and trust we receive by supporting initiatives for women’s health and well-being. As part of the “Take care of You” campaign, Zorbas Group supported the play “Calendar Girls”, a heart-warming story of female strength, solidarity and courage. The play’s actresses became ambassadors of the campaign, spreading awareness about the importance of self-care and cancer prevention”.
The personal testimony of actress Elena Efstathiou was a particularly touching moment of the event, as she shared her own experience as a former cancer patient, sending a powerful message of hope and strength.
At the same time, the company presented the now-famous “Biscuit of Hope”, which is decorated with the characteristic pink ribbon symbol, and is available at all Zorbas Bakeries throughout Cyprus. Part of the proceeds from the biscuit’s sales will be donated to Europa Donna Cyprus, supporting its efforts for awareness and early diagnosis.
On his part, Europa Donna Cyprus’ Executive Director, Mr Marios Charalambides expressed his warmest thanks and most heartfelt gratitude to Zorbas Group, while referring to the great importance of cancer prevention and early diagnosis. “We are very pleased and feel truly grateful to have a ten-year collaboration with Zorbas Group, a pioneering and extremely successful Organisation, which demonstrates a high level of sensitivity to issues of social contribution and responsibility, actively supporting our own great and challenging endeavour, as well as the multifaceted work we carry out at Europa Donna Cyprus”, he said.
Director George Tsiakkas and former EU Health Commissioner, Stella Kyriakides also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Zorbas Group and Europa Donna Cyprus for their long-standing support.
